King & Lasso was started to give back to New Bern — block by block, building by building. We restore what matters, develop what’s missing, and put our weight behind the people and places that make this city what it is.
We work across real estate, construction, hospitality, and community investment. Every company is fully owned, actively managed, and accountable to one home: New Bern.

Our focus is narrow on purpose and the work is meant to be felt close to home.
We invest where investment has been overdue: in historic buildings that deserve a second chapter, in housing that serves people who often get overlooked, in commercial space that gives small operators a real shot, and in the nonprofits already doing the quiet, steady work that holds a community together. Every decision we make runs through one question — does this serve New Bern? When the answer is yes, we move.
We acquire and restore buildings that matter to New Bern — historic structures with stories worth keeping, and properties that anchor the neighborhoods around them. The work is patient by design.
From the Bourbon & Cigar Lounge to the commercial spaces we lease, hospitality is how we keep downtown alive after five. Every operator we welcome in is vetted to be a real fit for the city.
The Foundation directs our resources and our attention toward the work that needs both — financial literacy, support for the autism and Parkinson’s communities, and partnerships with local nonprofits already in the fight.
Message from our founder
“I came back to New Bern after the Army with no specific plan — just the feeling that this place had given me something I owed back. My mother helped me start sharing what I saw around town, and somewhere in that, King & Lasso took shape. This company is my way of paying attention to the parts of New Bern that have been waiting for someone to notice them — and a promise that we’ll be here for the long haul.”
